Government of Central Java and Bank Jateng, in collaboration with KOMPAS Daily held Bank Jateng Borobudur Marathon 2017, a running race event with “Reborn Harmony” as its main theme.

With the aim to rejuvenate the spirit of togetherness of runners and the people of Central Java.
SPORTS TOURISM
Growth in the economic sector can also be impacted by a good sports tourism program, and running event is one way to do this.
CULTURAL IMMERSION
Raising the values of history and Borobudur culture as the world heritage culture.

My original race schedule plan, was having no more race after the BTS 100K. But I was lucky to steal podium 3 on the 5K race a month ago, and I got a free entree to this race. So here goes nothing.

Bromo Tengger Semeru Ultra Run race is a unique event that aims to challenge your inner spirit and physical state, as well as to provide race participants with magnificent natural beauty and environment of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java – Indonesia at various altitude level. Running at the high altitude region of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, you will experience tracks with various sceneries in the background, such as sea of volcanic sand (2.200 masl) with low temperature and strong wind. You will be running through rural back roads, forest path and prairie with a distant magnificent view of the highest mountain in Java, Mount Semeru (3.676 masl) and the tranquility of Lake Ranu Kumbolo (2.400 masl).

L4RI Run 5K – Unity in Diversity

Despite I hate short distance race, but sometime it s a necessary evil. Furthermore, this 5K race was a special one, it just beyond the running itself. This year run by L4RI (Love For Republic of Indonesia) was to promote how to embrace diversity in our nation’s culture, religion, race and regions. AAJI (Indonesian Jesuit Alumni Association) worked together with GP ANSOR, a Muslim youth organziation, to create a peaceful and harmonic running race event for everyone, which was organized by Gonzaga College, a Jesuit high school.

Cayuga Trail Marathon – I’m Half What I Used To Be

It had been about six or seven months after I left Uncle Sam land. And I had been trying to find an excuse to go back to NY. Not only that I missed this #beastcoast trail, but I also missed my extended family from trail running. So this summer, I got a chance to come to NY, and it about the same time with Cayuga Trail race event, one day before my flight back to Indonesia to be precise. So I emailed Ian Golden, the race director, and asked him if I could sneak into the race. And here where this story was started.

Rinjani100 2017 – The Beauty And The Beast

Right after I landed my left foot on my motherland, Indonesia, I did right away sign myself into this Rinjani100 race. I had meant to hike this mountain since I was in the high school 20 years ago, but I didn’t get a chance.
Rinjani is the second highest volcanic mountain, which is located on the north-east side of Lombok Island, Center of Indonesia. Lombok Island is Bali Island next door, so it is pretty much an equal beauty as Bali, but way less touristy compare to overcrowded tourists in Bali. Rinjani with 3762 meters above sea level is the highest point in Lombok, and it has also a sky lake in between its peaks.
